The Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Ambassador role has been created by the Innovation Agency, in partnership with the Stroke Association, to prevent strokes – saving lives and avoiding life-changing disabilities.

Two members of our team are ‘Heart Heroes’ who go out into the community and measure blood pressure and use small hand-held devices to detect atrial fibrillation and heart rate, all of which can predict increased risk of stroke. If any of the parameters are outside of the normal range or if AF is detected, the results given to the individual and they are advised to follow up with their GP or pharmacist for further assessment and treatment if necessary.
