The Local Conversations Higher Croft programme was funded by the Peoples Health Trust and has been running since 2016.  The programme was run by local volunteers who formed a ‘Steering Group’ supported by staff from Healthy Living and local ward councillors; the Local Conversations programme is one of many being delivered throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. 

The programme came to an end in December 2023 with the Steering group continuing to meet and volunteer at the Community Food Larder which is situated in Higher Croft Children’s Centre as well as the youth provision which will continue till the end of May 2024. The Steering group are looking at consolidating all their provision under one venue and the food larder will be moving later this year over to the community library.

The Steering Group continue to meet and develop projects for the community and have been successful in applying for funding from BwD Community CVS to look towards starting a parent and toddler group as well as a men’s group, again from the community library. They will also be looking at different options to continue with the youth provision within the area.
