The programme takes an early intervention approach to addressing knife crime and other forms of violence in the borough – giving young people the skills, support and aspirations they need to turn away from crime and fulfil their potential. It will support young people to have open discussions about the drivers behind engagement in criminal activities, including knife crime.

The programme will also introduce young people to the reality of life in a prison as a deterrent to engaging in criminal activities including knife crime and drug dealing.

The programme also creates an opportunity for young people to have open discussions with the local police team, to share their views and experiences of interactions with the police and to understand from the police the consequences of knife crime and other violent or criminal actions.
